Deployment Support

Picture
Today's military family face a lifestyle that is comprised of frequent deployments, which results in increased family separations. This often proves to be a stressful challenge for military families. Deployment affects the family, school and community as whole.  It can be illustrated in three stages which includes the families attempt to adjust to one parents departure, the painful parting period itself, and then the reunion which produces an array of emotional reactions and a period of adjustment often times requiring increased communication and self awareness.

Trauma Support

The effects of trauma has the potential to lead to a variety of spiritual, mental and physical health issues if not properly addressed. These events can interfere with the ability to function on a daily basis for months or even
years.
Symptoms are an adaptation to a horrific and/or unbearable event or situation, so they represent the person's attempt to cope in the best way they
can with their overwhelming feelings.  Exploring how symptoms and behaviors are an adaptation helps individuals and families substitute less problematic ways of coping with more effective ways of coping.

Loss and Grief Support

Picture
There is no right or wrong way to grieve — but there are healthy ways to cope with the pain. After a significant loss, you may experience all kinds of difficult and surprising emotions, such as shock, anger, anxiety and guilt.  There are common stages to the process of mourning. It starts with recognizing a loss and continues until a person eventually accepts that loss. People's responses to grief will be different, depending on the circumstances of the death.
